My "Perspectives" book from this week in Washington, D.C. names the some of the others who were with me on this trip: Stacy Mullen, from Oakville Sr. High School; Mary Wigton, from Florissant, Mo.; Donna Chytla, from Mehlville, Mo.; Martha Ohlms, from O'Fallon, Mo., and my class at St. Dominic High School. I remember some other people: Patty Hayden, from the Jr. year class at St. Dominic High School, and, from my hometown of Flint Hill; Linda Schellman, another member of St. Dominic's Jr. class; Mary Holtrup from Wentzville; Laura Chipley; Barb Wilson; Mike Swoboda and David Schoenherr, all St. Dominic's Jr. class members.

Letter to/regarding M.K. Ferguson Group, dated May 9, 2004

This letter is regards a contract job at M.K. -Ferguson Group, Morrison Knudsen Corporation, 1010 Market Street, Suite 700, St. Louis, Mo. 63101, phone 314-539-0400.

Dear Washington Group International, Inc.,

I am a Registered Architect, and have a Master of Fine Arts (Computer Graphics)[and Interactive Media] - an ECSE or Experimental Computer Science and Engineering degree, received in October, 1990, from international Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., where the School of Engineering and Dept. of Computer Science closed in 1993. I am the first single nationality American to receive this degree.

I worked for M.K.-Ferguson Group from 8/94-2/95, in St. Louis, under Mr. Robert Kolf, P.E., Office Manager. I was hurt in a car accident in 1/95, and was let go in February because I was not well and missed a week of work. I wrote to Marlene Puckett, Administrator and Director of Morrison Knudsen Corporation Foundation, Inc., in Boise, Idaho, on November 19, 1999, requesting financial assistance from their organization. She wrote in her letter back, "As you mentioned in your letter you have a supportive community and we are not able to duplicate assistance that is available from other sources." I question the intent behind the letter - I am the first female Registered Architect from St. Charles County, Mo., and was the only other Registered Architect at M.K.-Ferguson Group, Inc. in St. Louis when I worked there, besides Mr. Kurt Hensic, A.I.A. - and he was registered in Illinois - and Mr. Ken Bressler, R.A., who sealed all of their drawings and was a full-time direct employee, while I had been hired through a contract company. Where is the supportive community? I am now receiving money from the owners of this house, who are having me live here. The internet is community. Please direct this message to Marlene Puckett, Administrator and Director, in Boise, Idaho. I saw at this website: http://fdncenter.org/fc_stats/pdf/10_top50_tg/1999/id_99.pdf that Morrison Knudsen Corporation Foundation, Inc. donated about $384,000 in 1999 for grants, scholarships, etc. I needed a grant in 1999, since my head injury was serious and I was without health insurance. I am aware of your interests - what do you think about supporting women in Architecture and Engineering within your own company? I read Mrs. Mary Cunningham Agee's book when I was 23 years old, regarding her employment at Bendex Corporation, and her marriage to Mr. William Agee, the owners of Morrison Knudsen Corporation when I worked for them 1994-'95. I wrote a letter to her publisher, about my experience in Architecture. I did not receive a reply. I am aware that the truth of the matter with your company is very different from what one would be lead to believe from reading this book by Mrs. Mary Cunningham, Irish Harvard graduate. I have passed this information along to appropriate sources recently. I am still struggling to be healthy and have money to live with basic necessities. I am not from a wealthy family, and have paid for my own education and worked all of my life to pay my bills and save some money. I have not seen a website for Morrison Knudsen Corporation. Forward this message to that company and, if Marlene Puckett, Administrator and Director is not still employed there, to Elizabeth A. Hurd, contact at the Cleveland, Ohio office - 1500 W. 3rd Street, 44113-1406. I sent the completed application to her.
